Q: What makes these business cards eco?

Set it up once.

Finished size is 85 × 55mm: wallets, card holders and every slot ever made. If anything runs to the edge, set your page to 91 × 61mm so the background runs 3mm past the trim. Keep text and logos 3mm inside the cut line.

Double sided? One PDF, two pages, front first. Crop marks are welcome but not needed.

The risky oneA thin border right on the trim. Cards are cut in stacks and stacks move a fraction, so the border looks uneven. Make it thicker, or lose it.

Six things to get right on a card.

Size and bleed

Finished size is 85 × 55mm. If anything runs to the edge, set the page to 91 × 61mm and let the background run into the extra 3mm. Inside a white border? No bleed needed.

Keep text 3mm in

Text, logos and borders at least 3mm inside the trim. Cards are cut in stacks and stacks move a fraction, which is why a thin border is the riskiest thing on a card.

File type

A print-ready PDF is best (PDF/X-1a if you can). JPEG and PNG work too. Double sided: one PDF, two pages, front first.

Resolution

300dpi at full size. A card is read at arm's length, so a soft logo shows. Use the original logo file, never one pulled off a website or a WhatsApp export.

Type size

Keep type above 7pt. 6pt is the absolute floor, and it's smaller than you think at 85mm wide. If the phone number needs a squint, the card has failed.

Flatten transparency

Drop shadows, glows and blend modes look fine on screen and do strange things on press. Flatten before you export and what you see is what you get.

What is coffee cup paper?

Paper made from recycled disposable coffee cups, with the plastic lining separated out. It's off-white with a gentle texture, prints colour vividly at 400gsm, and it's the most versatile of the three.

What is Bio Seaweed paper?

Notpla's seaweed paper: 30% seaweed and 60% post-consumer waste, 350gsm, grey with green and brown flecks. It's biodegradable and recyclable. Black-only designs look best on it.

Will my colours look right on a natural stock?

On Coffee Cup, yes: colour stays vivid. On Kraft and Seaweed, colour prints muted because the card isn't white, so bold, black-led designs work best. We'll flag it if your artwork won't sit well.

Can I add soft touch or another lamination?

Not on eco cards: lamination is a plastic film, which undoes the point. Want soft touch? It's on our standard 400gsm business cards.

Can I get rounded corners or a die-cut shape?

Yes, as bespoke work priced individually. Email hello@rapidprintpro.com and flag your deadline, because bespoke finishing takes longer than the 3pm cutoff.

Do I need bleed and crop marks?

Bleed only if your design runs to the edge: add 3mm all round and supply at 91 × 61mm. Crop marks aren't needed, but they're welcome if they sit outside the bleed. Not sure? Upload what you have and our artwork team will sort it.

How should I supply my artwork?

PDF, JPEG or PNG, at 300dpi. Double sided: one PDF with two pages, front first. Flatten transparency and use your original logo file. A real person checks every file before it prints.

We need cards for the whole team. How does that work?

Each person's details are a separate order, one per name. Got a lot of them? Email hello@rapidprintpro.com and we'll sort the easiest way to run them together.

When will I get my cards?

Order by 3pm, Monday to Friday, and they're printed and trimmed the same day. Then:
