FLYER PAPER GUIDE

Which paper should you choose?

Not every flyer needs the same stock. Tap any option to find out which one's right for the job.

The everyday workhorse. Light enough for big runs, smooth enough to look properly professional. Colours pop, finish is clean β€” and it's recycled silk, so you're not trashing the planet.

Best for:

Handouts Flyer drops Paper menus Price lists High-volume promos

Noticeably more substantial in the hand β€” think paperback book cover. Holds up better in a bag or on a counter, and feels like you've put proper thought into it. A clear step up from 150gsm without going full postcard.

Best for:

Upmarket menus Premium leaflets Mini price cards Anything you want kept

Properly thick β€” same weight as a postcard. Won't crumple in a pocket, looks expensive, lands with a bit of authority. This is the one when you want people to keep the flyer rather than bin it.

Best for:

Luxury flyers Appointment cards Bold promo cards High-impact handouts

Uncoated stock with a subtle, paper-fibre texture you can actually feel under your fingertips. No shiny coating, no slickness β€” just the natural grain of properly nice paper. Pens glide on it (handwritten touches look great), and it photographs beautifully in lifestyle shots. Lower contrast than silk, but the warmth and texture more than make up for it.

Best for:

Eco-style flyers Brand storytelling Crafted / artisan vibe RSVP-style leaflets

All the body of a 350gsm postcard with the natural, textured feel of uncoated stock. The slight grain catches light differently to silk β€” softer, warmer, more characterful. Loved by minimalist designers and luxury brands who find glossy a bit naff. Properly tactile, properly premium, and you can feel the difference the second you pick it up.

Best for:

High-end postcard flyers Minimalist designs Luxury brand handouts Save-the-dates

Genuinely something different. Made with seaweed pulp, this stock has a unique flecked texture and a warm, off-white tone. Properly sustainable, talks-about-itself paper β€” your customers will pick it up and ask. Costs more than recycled silk, worth every penny if eco is the story.

Best for:

Sustainable brands Restaurant menus Beauty / wellness Ocean-themed events

Flyer & leaflet FAQs

Order before 3pm and you’ve got options:
  • Collect from our SE1 HQ — free, usually ready in about 2 hours
  • Same day delivery across London — from £45, about 90 minutes
  • Next day UK-wide via DPD — £6.99
  • Pre-10am next morning via DPD — £19.99
  • Saturday delivery (because weekends count too) — £19.99
We email you an exact collection time straight after you order, so you’re not standing around waiting. Cutting it close on a big run? Ring us first on 020 7078 0380.
Five sizes, straight off the configurator:
  • A6 — 105 × 148mm · handouts, flyer drops, postcards
  • A5 — 148 × 210mm · the classic flyer, our most ordered size
  • A4 — 210 × 297mm · menus, price lists, info sheets
  • DL — 99 × 210mm · fits a standard envelope, ideal for mailers
  • 148mm square — stands out in a stack of rectangles
Need something non-standard, die-cut or perforated? That’s a quote job — email hello@rapidprintpro.com or ring 020 7078 0380.
Six stocks, and the honest “what does it feel like” version:
  • 150gsm Recycled Silk — smooth, light, our most popular. Handouts, flyer drops, menus, price lists.
  • 250gsm Recycled Silk — noticeably thicker, holds its shape. Softback book cover weight.
  • 350gsm Recycled Silk — postcard thickness. Feels like money was spent.
  • 150gsm Uncoated Matt — letterhead feel, natural and tactile, easy to write on.
  • 350gsm Uncoated Matt — thick, premium, slight texture. The designer’s pick.
  • 140gsm Bio Seaweed — seaweed and recycled fibre, for when eco is the message.
All of it is FSC-accredited. Still torn? Ring us and describe the job — we’ll tell you which one, including when the cheaper one is right.
It’s a coating, and it changes both the look and the job the flyer can do.
  • Silk — lightly coated. Colours stay punchy, photos stay sharp, and it wipes clean. The standard choice for commercial flyers and anything image-led.
  • Uncoated — no coating. Softer, more natural, slightly muted colour, and it takes a pen. Right for eco branding, editorial-looking design, and anything people write on.
One practical tiebreaker: if a customer needs to write on it, go uncoated. If it’s full-bleed photography, go silk.
Six quantities: 100, 250, 500, 1,000, 2,500 and 5,000, with prices from £19. Pick size, sides, stock and quantity above and the price updates instantly — no quote form, no waiting for an email.
  • The cost per flyer drops sharply as the run grows. If you’re hovering between 500 and 1,000, check both — the jump is usually smaller than people expect.
  • Need more than 5,000, or a size we don’t list? Ring 020 7078 0380 and we’ll price it properly.
Yes, and it turns a flyer into a mini brochure — but it’s a different product. Head to Folded Leaflets, where you pick a flat size and the fold you want. Same 3pm cutoff, same speed as flat flyers, and they arrive pre-folded and ready to use.
  • Half fold — one fold, four panels. 4pp A5, 4pp A4, 4pp A6, 4pp DL.
  • C-fold — two folds, panels tuck inside each other. 6pp DL from A4: the restaurant menu shape.
  • Z-fold — two folds in a concertina. 6pp DL and 6pp A5: reads panel by panel, so it suits steps and timelines.
Flat sizes run A3, A4, A5, 444 × 210mm and 198 × 210mm. Set your artwork up at the flat size, not the folded size, and keep type 5mm clear of the fold lines. If you send it the wrong way round we’ll spot it before it prints.
Supply at the finished flyer size with 3mm bleed all round, as a PDF if you can. An A5 flyer is 148 × 210mm, so your document is 154 × 216mm with bleed.
  • 300dpi at full size — flyers are read at arm’s length, so resolution genuinely shows
  • Keep text and logos at least 3mm in from the trim (5mm is safer)
  • Flatten transparency before you export
  • Double-sided? Send it as one PDF, two pages, front page first
JPEG and PNG are fine too. Sent us something odd? Send it anyway — a real person checks every file before it prints.
Yep, and plenty of our work arrives that way. Export as PDF Print rather than PDF Standard, and tick crop marks and bleed if the option is there.
  • Set the Canva canvas to the flyer size before you design, not after — resizing at the end is what causes soft, stretched artwork
  • Avoid dragging in images straight from WhatsApp or a phone screenshot; they’re nowhere near 300dpi
If something isn’t right, our artwork team fixes it or comes back to you before it prints. Nothing goes on a press unchecked.

Flyers that actually turn up.

Flyer, leaflet, handout, mailer — whatever the brief calls it, we print it and trim it in Tabard Street. Five sizes, six stocks, and a 3pm cutoff that means a flyer ordered this morning can be handed out this afternoon.

Everything runs on FSC-accredited paper, including a recycled silk range and a seaweed-based stock for when the eco credentials have to be real rather than implied. Single or double sided, portrait or landscape, 100 up to 5,000.

It’s the job we do most, and usually the one with the tightest deadline: a restaurant reprinting menus before service, an agency covering a launch that moved, a stand at ExCeL that ran out on day one. Nothing here is a two-week lead time. Need it folded into a menu or a mini brochure instead? That’s Folded Leaflets, same cutoff.

A6 · A5 · A4 · DL · square 6 stocks 150 → 350gsm single or double sided FSC paper from £19

How to order: pick size, sides, stock and quantity for an instant price, then upload artwork, design it free online, or let us design it for you. Every file gets checked by a human — low res, missing bleed, live transparency — before a sheet goes near the press.

Six stocks • one right answer

Pick your paper.

150gsm Most popular
Recycled Silk

The default flyer, and the best value in the list. Light, smooth and punchy in colour — the weight you picture when someone says “flyer”.

Best forHandouts, flyer drops, paper menus, price lists, inserts.
250gsm Thicker
Recycled Silk

Same finish, considerably more substance. Holds its shape in the hand instead of flopping — roughly a softback book cover.

Best forLeave-behinds, event invites, anything that sits on a desk for a week.
350gsm Postcard
Recycled Silk

Postcard thickness, and it reads as expensive the second someone picks it up. Stiff, sharp and hard to throw away.

Best forLoyalty cards, high-value promos, direct mail, save-the-dates.
150gsm Writeable
Uncoated Matt

Natural, tactile, no coating — letterhead feel. Takes a biro without smudging, which coated stock will not.

Best forOrder forms, sign-up sheets, editorial design, softer branding.
350gsm Premium
Uncoated Matt

Thick, matte and faintly textured. The one designers ask for by name — understated, and it photographs beautifully.

Best forStudio and hospitality branding, gallery cards, premium invites.
140gsm Eco
Bio Seaweed

Made with seaweed and recycled fibre, with a visible natural fleck. The eco claim is in the sheet, not just the wording on it.

Best forSustainability-led brands, food and drink, festivals, B Corp campaigns.
Short version: handing them out → 150gsm silk · keeping them → 350gsm · writing on them → uncoated · eco is the point → seaweed.
Same product, very different jobs

What people actually print.

Leaflet drops

Door to door, letterbox by letterbox. A5 or A6 on 150gsm silk keeps the cost per household down where it matters.

Handouts

High street, in store, outside the venue. Light enough to carry a thousand of them, cheap enough not to mind when people take two.

Menus & price lists

Specials change, so print small and often. 350gsm survives a table; go folded when the menu outgrows one side.

Event promo

Gigs, launches, open days, club nights. Order by 3pm and they’re out on the street the same afternoon — useful when a date moves.

Offers & voucher codes

A code on paper still converts. 350gsm silk gets kept in a wallet rather than binned on the way out of the shop.

Mailers

DL is 99 × 210mm, which drops straight into a standard envelope with no folding and no fuss.

Inserts & cross-sell

In the bag, in the box, in the delivery. The cheapest way to tell an existing customer about the thing they didn’t buy.

Mini posters

Notice boards, shop windows, community halls. A4 on 250gsm stays flat on the wall instead of curling by Wednesday.

Folded leaflets printed in London by Rapid Print Pro - half fold, C-fold and Z-fold menus and mini brochures Folded leaflets · same 3pm cutoff
More to say than one side allows

Need it folded?

A fold turns a flyer into a mini brochure. Suddenly there’s room for a full menu, a service list, a price breakdown or a story that doesn’t fit on one side of an A5 — without paying for a stitched booklet.

They arrive pre-folded and ready to use. Three folds, six finished formats, and the same paper stocks you’re looking at above.

Half fold
4 panels

One fold down the middle. The simplest, cleanest option — programmes, short menus, price cards.

C-fold
6 panels

Panels tuck inside each other. The classic restaurant menu and service brochure shape.

Z-fold
6 panels

Concertina, so it opens panel by panel. Right for steps, timelines and maps.

Sizes Flat: A3, A4, A5, 444 × 210mm, 198 × 210mm.
Finished: 4pp A4, 4pp A5, 4pp A6, 4pp DL, 6pp DL, 6pp A5.

Set artwork up at the flat size with 3mm bleed, and keep type 5mm clear of every fold. Not sure which fold you want? Describe the job to hello@rapidprintpro.com and we’ll tell you which one fits.

Get it print-perfect

Let’s play by the rules.

Try to use PDF

Save as PDF/X-1a:2001 for the most accurate print. Can’t? No stress — PNG, JPEG or whatever you have works, and the artwork team will get in touch if anything needs fixing (or maybe just for a chat if they’re feeling lonely).

Supply at finished size

Artwork at the actual flyer size with 3mm bleed all round. A5 = 148 × 210mm, so the document is 154 × 216mm. Let backgrounds run off the edge — that’s what stops white slivers after trimming.

Resolution

300dpi at full size, every size we print. A flyer is read at arm’s length, so soft images are obvious. Export from Canva at 300dpi and use originals — not screenshots or WhatsApp exports.

Safe area

Keep text, logos and borders at least 3mm in from the trim — 5mm if you can spare it. Guillotines move a fraction, and a thin border sitting right on the trim line is the one thing that shows it.

Flatten transparency

Drop shadows, glows and blend modes look perfect on screen and can do genuinely strange things on press. Flatten before exporting and what you see is what you get.

Two sides, one file

Double sided? Send one PDF with two pages, front first — not two separate files named “final” and “final2”. And keep type above 6pt; below that it stops being small print and starts being a rumour.
