Six things to get right on an A-board poster.

Poster size

A1 boards take 594 × 841mm posters, A2 boards 420 × 594mm. Portrait. Send a PDF at that size; JPEG and PNG are fine too.

The frame covers the edges

The snap frame overlaps the poster by about 15mm all round. Keep text and logos 25mm in from the edge. Run backgrounds to the edge.

Readable from across the road

Headlines at least 80mm tall on A1, 60mm on A2. One message, a price and your name: people read an A-board in two seconds.

Two sides

Choose ‘different each side’ and upload a two-page PDF: page 1 faces the way most people walk, page 2 the other way.

Resolution

150dpi at full size. Photos from your phone are usually fine; images saved from a website usually aren't.

Colour

CMYK is safest. The anti-glare cover takes the shine off, so colours look slightly softer than on screen.

What's included?

Budget or premium?

The silver A-board is the classic: light, folds flat, goes in and out every day. The spring frame is for exposed corners and windy streets: fill the base with water, and when the wind pushes it, it rocks on its springs and stands back up instead of blowing over.

A1 or A2?

A1 (posters 594 × 841mm) for a wide pavement and a big message. A2 (420 × 594mm) for a narrow doorway or a menu people read up close. The spring frame is A1.

How much are they?

A2 A-board with two posters £75, A1 £99, A1 spring frame £159, ex VAT. Replacement posters £22 a pair for A2, £29 for A1.

How do I change the posters?

On an A-board, flip open the four sides of the frame, lift out the cover and the old poster, drop in the new one, lay the cover back on and snap the sides shut. About a minute a side, no tools. The spring frame opens the same way.

Can they stay out in the rain?

Yes. The poster sits behind a clear cover in an aluminium frame. A-boards can blow over in strong wind, so bring them in. The spring frame is made for wind: fill the base with water and it rocks and springs back.

Same poster both sides?

Your choice. Upload one page for the same poster both sides, or a two-page PDF for a different poster on each side.

Do I need permission to put one on the pavement?

Many London councils want a licence for A-boards on the public pavement, and some ban them. On your own forecourt you're usually fine. Check with your council before you put it out.

How quickly can I get one?
