Which stock should you choose?

Four boards, four different jobs. Tap any one to find out more, or order one card on each and hold them.

A low-sheen coated board that makes photos and flat colour look crisp. Coated both sides, so write inside with a biro, fineliner or gel pen: a fountain pen will smudge on it. The one most people order.

Best forPhoto cards, bold flat colour, corporate runs.

An uncoated recycled board with a slight natural tooth. Colours print a shade softer, which is the point: it looks and feels like a card from a proper card shop, and it takes any pen, pencil or ink you own.

Best forIllustration, cards to sell, anything hand-signed.

Silk-style depth on the cover, plain paper feel on the inside, so the whole office can sign it with whatever is in the drawer. Same price as the silk.

Best forCorporate Christmas cards, handwritten messages inside.

Fedrigoni’s gesso board with a fine chalky surface you can feel across the room. Ink sits soft on it, so it flatters illustration and photography and is less kind to tiny type and big flat solids. About a quarter more, and looks it.

Best forLuxury brands, wedding and event stationery, artists’ editions.

Folded, enveloped, printed in London

Cards people keep.

Folded greeting cards on four proper stocks, creased, with an envelope for every card in the box. Christmas cards for the client list, thank-yous, launches, or a run of your own designs to sell. Order by 3pm and up to 500 cards are printed today, in SE1, not shipped in from a unit off the M1.

Upload one design or up to ten and we split the run evenly between them. Order one card to hold the stock in your hand, or ten thousand for the shops. Same paper, same press, same people checking the file.

How to order: pick a size, a stock and a quantity above for a live price, then upload your artwork: two pages per design, outside and inside. No artwork? Send us the words and a logo and we'll lay it out and send you a proof. Either way, a person checks the file before any card runs.

Four stocks. No filler.

Pick your paper.

Two recycled boards, one coated-outside-only board for the corporate crowd, and one Italian showpiece. Not sure? Order one card on each for the price of a coffee and hold them.

Recycled Silk
350gsm

A low-sheen coated board that makes photos and flat colour look crisp. Both sides are coated, so the inside is silky too: a biro or a fineliner writes on it cleanly, a fountain pen will smudge. The one most people order.

Biro or fineliner insidePhoto cards, bold flat colour, corporate runs
Recycled Pulp
350gsm

An uncoated recycled board with a slight natural texture. Colours print a shade softer and flatter than silk, which is exactly the point: it looks and feels like a card from a proper card shop. Takes every pen, pencil and ink you own.

Any pen, inside and outIllustration, letterpress-style design, cards to sell
Omega
350gsm

Coated on the outside so your cover prints with full silk-style depth, uncoated on the inside so the message writes like paper. The same idea printed.com sells as TruCard, priced the same as our silk here.

Tintoretto Gesso
300gsm · +25%

Fedrigoni's hammered gesso board, warm white with a fine chalky surface you can feel across the room. Ink sits soft on it, so it flatters illustration and photography and is less kind to tiny type and big flat solids. Costs about a quarter more than the other three and looks it.

Any pen, inside and outLuxury brands, wedding and event stationery, artists' editions

All four are 300 to 350gsm, which is proper card-shop weight: they stand up on a shelf on their own. Recycled Silk and Recycled Pulp are 100% recycled fibre. Every card is creased before it is folded, so the spine stays clean on the heavy boards.

  • Even splits only. 100 cards as 4 designs is 25 each. 500 as 5 is 100 each. One price, one box, each design bundled separately.
  • Pick 1, 2, 4, 5 or 10 designs on the configurator, then upload one two-page PDF per design.
  • Want 60 of one and 40 of another? That's two orders. The second one takes a minute, and you still get the quantity price on each.
  • Built for a range. Ten designs at 25 each is 250 cards for the fair. Reorder the two that sold out on Monday, have them Tuesday.

Which quantities split how: 25 into 5; 50 into 2, 5 or 10; 100 into 2, 4, 5 or 10; 250 into 2, 5 or 10; 500 and 1,000 into any of them.

Illustrators, designers, small brands

Print them. Sell them.

If you draw, this is the product the rest of the page is really about. Prices are shown per card as well as per run, so the margin sum takes ten seconds. Order one of each stock to choose, then ten designs at 25 each to test at the market, then a thousand of the one that flies.

The pulp and the gesso are the ones makers pick: uncoated, tactile, they look hand-made even at a thousand. And because we print in London, a sell-out on Saturday is back in stock by Tuesday, not in three weeks.

Selling into shops or a wholesaler? Trade quantities run to 10,000 on the configurator. For cello bags, belly bands or delivery straight to a stockist, email us the details.

In a year of inboxes

Why cards still matter.

Nobody has ever pinned an e-card to a wall.

The average inbox takes two hundred emails a day and keeps none of them. A card is opened, read, and stood on a shelf where it does its job for a month. It is the only marketing your customers will thank you for.

A card gets opened. Every time.

An email is one of two hundred. A card is the only thing on the mat, and it stays on the desk or the mantelpiece for weeks, doing its job every time someone walks past.

It's the print your customers keep.

A brochure gets filed. A card with a real signature inside gets kept, and it's the cheapest piece of print you'll send all year.

Small runs let you test, then reorder.

Ten designs, 25 of each, at the fair on Saturday. Reorder the two that sold out on Monday and have them Tuesday. That's how a range gets built.

Two pages per design

Set up the artwork.

  1. Pick the template

Download the PDF for your size and fold. The bleed, the safe area and the fold are already drawn on it. Open it in Illustrator, InDesign, Affinity, Canva or Photoshop.

  2. Design the outside

Page 1 is the outside of the card. On a long edge fold the front is the right half and the back is the left half. On a short edge fold the front is the bottom half and the back is the top half, printed upside down so it reads the right way once folded.

  3. Design the inside

Page 2 is the inside spread. Leave it blank for a handwritten message, print a short greeting, or fill it. It prints exactly what you send.

  4. Check the edges

Backgrounds run 3mm past the trim into the bleed. Text and logos stay 5mm inside the trim and 5mm off the fold. Nothing important sits on the crease.

  5. Export and upload

Export a PDF with the guides hidden, CMYK, 300dpi, two pages per design. One PDF per design if you are splitting a run. Our preflight checks it and shows you a proof before we print.

Greeting card FAQs

Recycled Silk is smooth and coated both sides, sharp colour, the default. Recycled Pulp is uncoated with a light texture, softer colour, feels like a card-shop card. Omega is coated on the outside and uncoated inside, so the cover prints rich and the message writes like paper. Tintoretto Gesso is an Italian hammered board, off-white, luxurious, about a quarter more. Not sure? Order one of each for a few pounds and hold them.
All four, with one caveat. Pulp, Omega and Gesso are uncoated inside and take any pen. Silk is coated inside, so use a biro, a fineliner or a gel pen: fountain pen and wet ink will smudge on it. If everyone in the office is going to sign the card, pick Omega or Pulp.
Five: A6, A5, 105 square, 148 square and 210 square. A6 and 148 square go as a standard letter. 210 square posts as a large letter, so it suits hand delivery or a courier. Envelopes to fit are in the box for every size.
Long edge fold is the classic portrait card that opens like a book. Short edge fold is landscape and opens from the top like a tent. Same price, same paper, just pick the one your design was drawn for. Square cards fold on the left.
Yes. Every card is creased and folded before it goes in the box, with an envelope for each one. White envelopes are included in the price. Kraft envelopes are an upgrade on the configurator.
Upload two, four, five or ten designs and we split the quantity evenly between them. 500 cards across five designs is 100 of each: one order, one price, one box. The split has to be even, so 100 cards can be 1, 2, 4, 5 or 10 designs but not 3. Want 60 of one and 40 of another? That's two orders, and the second one is only a minute more.
Two pages per design: page 1 is the outside spread, page 2 is the inside. Download the template for your size, design over it, hide the guides, export a PDF in CMYK at 300dpi. Keep backgrounds 3mm past the trim and text 5mm inside it. Splitting a run? One PDF per design. The five steps above walk through it, and our preflight shows you a proof before anything prints.
Yes. Plenty of cards are printed on the outside only and left blank inside for a handwritten message. Send page 2 blank, or tell us in the notes and we'll set it that way.
Not through this product, which prints the same design on every card in each split. For names, addresses or a message that changes card by card, email hello@rapidprintpro.com with the list and we'll quote it as a personalised run.
Order by 3pm Monday to Friday and up to 500 cards are printed the same day: collect from SE1 that afternoon or courier across London. 1,000 cards are next working day. 2,500 and up are three working days. Next day UK delivery is £6.99.
Yes, from £6 with an envelope. It's the cheapest way to check a stock and a design before you commit to a run, and a lot of makers order one of each stock first.
Yes, up to 10,000 on the configurator and more by email. Split a run across up to ten designs, order 1 or 2 of a new design to test it, then reorder the ones that sell. Prices are shown per card as well as per run, so the margin sum is easy. For cello bags, belly bands or delivery straight to a stockist, email hello@rapidprintpro.com.
Yes. Greeting cards are standard rated, so VAT at 20% is added at checkout. The tables on this page show both.
Recycled Silk and Recycled Pulp are made from 100% recycled fibre. Omega and Tintoretto Gesso are virgin fibre from certified, responsibly managed sources. All four are recyclable, and the envelopes are paper.
Our preflight checks every upload for size, bleed, resolution and colour and shows you a proof. A person looks at it too before it prints. If something needs fixing you'll hear from us first, not find out when the box arrives.
We print right up to the week before Christmas. Order by 3pm and up to 500 cards go the same day, so the last safe day is the day before your posting deadline. Check the Royal Mail last posting dates and give yourself a day to write them.
